AirMagnet Technology Demonstration

Innovation is vital to AirMagnet. We are always researching and inventing the next great wave of technologies to keep our customers ahead of the curve of Wi-Fi security and management. Here is an early look at some of the new technologies from AirMagnet.

Spectrum Analysis Driven by Intel® Centrino® 2

The recent release of Intel® Centrino® 2 has opened the doors to the next generation of mobile computing offering new levels of processing speed, extended battery life and integrated 802.11n wireless performance.

At the Intel Developer Forum, AirMagnet showcases new software technology that leverages Intel® Centrino® 2 processor with the Intel WiFi Link Adapter (5100/5300) to deliver professional-quality spectrum analysis of the Wi-Fi environment.

Spectrum analyzers are critical tools for Wi-Fi networks, which can be negatively impacted by noise and RF interference in the environment. Spectrum analyzers let anyone easily see all of the energy that is in the Wi-Fi airwaves and quickly pinpoint RF problems that can rob the network of performance.

The spectrum technology demonstrated by AirMagnet and Intel brings a new level of flexibility and accessibility to Wi-Fi troubleshooting. In the past, spectrum analysis required a dedicated, single-use card or device to perform the analysis. With this new technology, users will be able to feed a spectrum analysis application using the same adapter that is built in to their laptop that they use for normal Wi-Fi functionality. This means users can be assured of always having the hardware they need to troubleshoot networks on the fly. Additionally, using the laptop's built-in Wi-Fi adapter for spectrum analysis provides the perspective of the spectrum environment that an end-user client actually experiences, thus giving a more "real-world" analysis. The end result is a combination of technical troubleshooting power and on-the-fly accessibility that gets problems resolved faster and networks running to their full potential.

Be sure to visit us at the Intel Mobility Pavilion, Booth #858 at IDF for a demonstration of this exciting new technology.
