AirMagnet Extends PCI Data Security Standard Support to Include Version 1.2

Helps Retailers Secure Cardholder Transaction Information Over Wireless Networks

SUNNYVALE, Calif., October 7, 2008 — AirMagnet Inc., the leader in security, performance and compliance solutions for wireless LANs, today announced that AirMagnet Enterprise and AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer are being enhanced to support the new PCI Data Security Standard (DSS) version 1.2. This new support allows retail organizations to easily leverage AirMagnet solutions to confidently deploy, manage and secure wireless networks in accordance with the industry's foremost standard for cardholder account security.

PCI security standards are technical and operational requirements set by the PCI Security Standards Council to protect cardholder data. AirMagnet Enterprise and WiFi Analyzer respectively provide 24/7 and as-needed monitoring of retail WLAN environments to ensure PCI compliance — among a variety of other WLAN security management functions.

"When we joined the PCI Council and the PCI Security Vendor Alliance over a year ago, our goal was to make sure wireless networks are safe and reliable for retailers," said Chris Roeckl, vice president of marketing at AirMagnet. "The latest update and our support of it, give customers the ability to easily manage and secure customer information in a wireless environment, as well as the means to demonstrate wireless PCI compliance to governing bodies."

PCI security standards are technical and operational requirements set by the PCI Security Standards Council to protect cardholder data. The latest PCI DSS requirements offer guidance for software developers and manufacturers of applications and devices used in transaction markets, such as retail. Key to this update are changes around sun-setting of Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) wireless security implementations by June 2010. Both AirMagnet Enterprise and AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer alert administrators to the use of the weaker WEP technology and identifies if those keys are vulnerable to cracking by freeware tools.

In addition, there are new testing procedures and requirements around the use of WIDS/WIPS (wireless intrusion detection and prevention systems) for monitoring wireless devices and running vulnerability scans on the network, and the maintenance of automated and secure audit trails of all the system components. AirMagnet Enterprise lets users see the location of unauthorized devices on a floor map of their location and launch analytical traces to expose where the device is attached to the wired infrastructure.

AirMagnet products also assist the internal IT staff of a retail organization, as well as Approved Scanning Vendors (ASV) qualified by the PCI Standards Council, to test for wireless compliance of every wireless device with the Standard, and finally provide a report with a step-by-step pass/fail assessment for every PCI DSS requirement and testing procedure.

"AirMagnet is a leader in the wireless space and we're very excited to have them as members of the council. They're ongoing support of our standards allow retail organizations and service providers to effectively and securely utilize wireless networks as part of any cardholder transaction system," said Alan Bird, President at the PCI Security Vendor Alliance

The new compliance reports for both products will be available later this quarter. For more information on these and the entire portfolio of AirMagnet WLAN solutions, please visit www.AirMagnet.com.
