AirMagnet and Intel® Demonstrate New Technology That Vastly Simplifies Wireless RF Troubleshooting

AirMagnet to show new technology at Intel® Developer Forum this week

SUNNYVALE, Calif., August 18, 2008 — AirMagnet Inc., the leader in security, performance and compliance solutions for wireless LANs, is demonstrating new technology that will offer professional Wi-Fi spectrum analysis using the Intel® Centrino® 2 processor technology and forthcoming software from AirMagnet. The demonstration is taking place this week at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Francisco, Intel Mobility Pavilion, in booth #858.

This combination of AirMagnet software and the Intel® Centrino® 2 processor technology with Intel Wi-Fi Link Adapter (5100/5300) allows users to use the computer's standard internal wireless adapter to analyze the quality of the RF airwaves and easily see RF interference and problems in the Wi-Fi spectrum. Previously, customers had to use proprietary, single-use, external cards to identify RF interferences.

"By leveraging the Intel® Centrino® 2 processor technology, we further expand the available market of our forthcoming software technology to the millions of Intel® Centrino® 2 processor technology-based platforms that are now shipping," said Chris Roeckl, vice president of marketing at AirMagnet. "Additionally, this new approach to RF analysis provides an end-user's view of the RF environment, which is a game-changing approach in the wireless LAN market."

Spectrum analysis is critical for any high performance Wi-Fi network, which can be negatively impacted by noise and RF interference in the environment. Spectrum analyzers allow anyone to easily see the energy that is in the Wi-Fi airwaves and quickly pinpoint RF problems that can rob a network of performance.

"Intel® Centrino® 2 processor technology offers breakthrough wireless performance, security and management for today's mobile workforce. AirMagnet extends our wireless capabilities even further with their spectrum technology," said Randy Nickel, Director of Wireless Marketing, Mobile Platforms Group, Intel Corporation. "Visibility of the Wi-Fi spectrum and clear issue diagnosis is fundamental to designing and running a WLAN properly. We're excited to work with AirMagnet in this joint effort."

"Innovation is essential to our company, and we are always researching and inventing the next great wave of technologies to keep our customers ahead of the curve for Wi-Fi security and management," said Dean Au, president of AirMagnet. "We are very pleased to be working with Intel®, a proven leader in providing innovation, to develop this powerful solution."
