AirMagnet Extends VoFi Analyzer to Deliver Unmatched End-to-End Call Visibility on Voice Over Wireless LANs

New integration with Cisco phones and AirWISE alarm updates make VoFi Analyzer 3.5 the most usable and comprehensive VoWLAN solution on the market

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec 04, 2007 — AirMagnet Inc., the leader in security, performance and compliance solutions for wireless LANs, today announced the latest version of its award winning AirMagnet VoFi Analyzer, the industry's premier tool for monitoring and troubleshooting voice-over-wireless LAN deployments in the enterprise. The new version includes integration with Cisco 7921 phones, which allows the VoFi Analyzer to collect call diagnostic information directly from an end-user's Cisco phone. This enables IT staff to view call problems from the actual end-user's perspective, making it possible to track the call from end-to-end, vastly improving the end-user experience.

In addition, 13 new alarms have been added to AirWISE — AirMagnet's analysis engine that diagnoses more than 60 types of wireless call problems — to automatically identify the root-cause of voice issues. This includes identifying mis-configurations in dual-mode phones, and alarms to detect problems with a phone's power saving option, hidden stations, RF regulatory rule violations, streaming traffic from a wireless device, unassociated station detection and many more.

"The new features in AirMagnet VoFi Analyzer combine to deliver unmatched call visibility, while keeping the network secure and manageable," said Chris Roeckl, vice president of marketing at AirMagnet. "There are a number of elements that can cause packet jitter, delay and other performance related issues as they apply to voice over wireless LAN deployments. The key to effectively managing these is having a tool that enables you to quickly and effectively identify these voice issues and remedy them. That's what VoFi Analyzer offers."

AirMagnet VoFi Analyzer is the leading tool for managing and troubleshooting voice deployments across a wireless LAN. Earlier this year, the product introduced a completely new concept for understanding and resolving issues associated with VoWLAN deployment, collecting and integrating voice-related data from three different sources — air, phone and wire — to deliver the only comprehensive view of the entire enterprise connection. VoFi Analyzer directly samples wireless voice traffic, delivering an unbiased, third party perspective on the quality between a given phone and the wireless infrastructure, as well as a simultaneous view into both sides of the call (access point to phone and phone to access point). The product leverages patent-pending technology to calculate wireless call quality and detect voice problems — even on fully encrypted networks and traffic — thus ensuring network staff can instantly diagnose and correct problems without compromising security.
