Built-in Wireless Expertise and Intelligence
With the company's patent-pending AirWISE intelligent analytical
engine, intuitive interface, and the power of a PC, The AirMagnet
Duo provides a top-down view of a network, which frees users to
follow their natural train of thought while problem solving. The
AirMagnet Duo uses the same interface as its companion product,
the AirMagnet Handheld, but takes advantage of the large screen
of a PC by using its Smart Screen technology to display the most
useful information without the use of scroll bars. The robust interface
also provides the ability to view up to 6 user-defined charts simultaneously
and users can click on virtually any element to drill down into
any screen for more detailed information on the network being monitored.
The result is faster problem resolution, and a shift from reactive
to proactive network management.
Comprehensive Monitoring
The AirMagnet Duo displays the entire 802.11environment (all 14 channels
in 802.11b and 12 channels in 802.11a) within a single screen.
This includes all bands worldwide, not just in North America. This
allows for monitoring of all real-time statistics and alarms within
the entire Wi-Fi spectrum, as well being able to detect APs in
use in 'unauthorized' channels.
Broader Security Alarms
With more than thirty different security alarms, users are able to
detect Rogue APs, MAC Address Spoofing and multiple types of Denial
of Service attacks - providing early WLAN intrusion detection and
guard against WLAN attacks. The product also validates 802.1x,
LEAP, TKIP and MIC, which allows network professionals to establish
and monitor network-wide security and use policies appropriate
for the network. Furthermore, when problems are identified, a built-in
Find Tool helps track down the physical location of any AP on the
network.
Wireless Specific Performance Management
The AirMagnet Duo supports twenty-four performance alarms specific
to the wireless environment including, Hidden Node Problems, Excessive
Roaming and APs overloaded by bandwidth requirements. Unlike traditional
analyzers, AirMagnet brings built-in wireless expertise to uncover
performance problems specific to Wi-Fi environments. These capabilities
are arguably that most valuable to users, because they represent
problems that are foreign to many network professionals and can

Global Positioning System (GPS) Device Logging
When a GPS device is connected to the laptop, the AirMagnet Duo tracks
GPS longitude and latitude information along with WLAN devices and their
signal strength - maintaining device location and radio coverage in the
real-time display. The GPS information can then be imported into site
survey mapping tools. The combined benefits of The AirMagnet Duo and a
GPS device can be applied to three different applications including, outdoor
site survey, security survey on unintended radio coverage and WLAN device
location sensing. This helps network professionals maintain a real-time
view of wireless network topography - as well as identify possible points
of unauthorized access to the enterprise's network.
